Football, Gardens and the Market

What a beautiful Saturday we had! It was a relaxing, easy going day, that brought us to some unexpected places....

First, we went to cheer on Tanner's football team. Go Cowboys! Tanner had some awesome plays!

Then we headed over to the Idaho Botanical Gardens to check out their scarecrows and fall flowers and hike around a bit on the trails.

On our way home we took the scenic route and went through some of the old neighborhoods in downtown Boise. We happened by this old time market. So, we went inside to get a treat. It was the cutest place! The locals would come in and put their purchases on their tabs that the lady behind the register would pull out of a little index box. I didn't know store's even did that anymore!!! There were potatoes, onions and zucchini from someones garden sitting on the tables for anyone to take home and enjoy. So we brought some home and fryed them up for dinner. I can't wait to bring my mom and dad back to this place when they come to visit!

A day at the track to cheer Troy on!

Troy cut a perfect .000 light this weekend and qualified #1 ... he also got his 140 mph sticker!!! Great job, we are so proud of you!

A new cork board

I've been wanting a cork/message board for the office but couldn't bring myself to pay the price they want in the Ballard's catalog. So I made my own. This is a print we had in our billard's room at the old house. Gotta love the dogs! Ran to Walmart and found some cork and ribbon. Glue gunned it on. (Remember, I am a lazy crafter!)
Walla! A new message board!

My Home Goods Find

Here is what I did with those canisters I picked up at Home Goods. I can't wait for Christmas now...I have so many great ideas!

A pillow and a painting

My sweet son learned to sew with his Oma this summer. He had such a great time. This is what he made for me...and to think he picked out the red and cream toile fabric all on his own...I love toile! Thank you...I love you T!!!
I picked up this oil painting at a great shop we have here called Graples. I loved it for the colors, but love it even more because the artist is from California and now lives here in Boise, Idaho. As soon as I saw the painting I knew that it would be perfect in our home, I just couldn't figure out where to hang it. But while taking the picture of it, it dawned on me. Hang it over the chair (with my beautiful new pillow) in the corner of our office and call it a reading nook!
My new reading nook! I LOVE IT!

Front Porch

Summer is coming to an end....fall is in the air. Just wanted to take one last photo of my Wave Petunias before the frost hits. Farewell to my faithful friend....the one plant that blooms from May through September despite my lack of a green thumb!

A trip to Home Goods...

This is the treasure I found today...

I thought these were just beautiful and the best part is, is that they can be used all year! Each container comes apart into 3 different sections. My plan is to fill them with festive Halloween candy in all the fall colors. What do you think....any other ideas out there? I will post soon with the finished project.

God Bless the U.S.A.
